Representatives from the Baltic Metropolises met in Copenhagen 4-5 September to outline the strategic EU project, BaltMet Promo, with the aim of establishing from a metropolitan perspective a way to do collaborative promotion for the Baltic Sea Region in the global markets. The meeting was hosted by Baltic Development Forum.

The members of the BaltMet network are launching the project with the aim of developing joint promotional products and services in the areas of trade, tourism and culture in cooperation with national and regional agencies, businesses and universities and test them in the focused global markets.

Three pilot projects will be developed and launched with the aim to create durable co-operation methods for doing collaborative promotion within – and even between – macro-regions. The pilot on trade and investment shall focus on “The Baltic Sea Region in World Trade Fairs – from Cannes to Shanghai, a regional approach to attract investors. The cultural pilot will develop “Baltic Sea Cinema Weekend in Tokyo” and the pilot on tourism will elaborate the Japanese Experience Design.

The pilot projects are the engines, which gradually build up an open, inclusive platform for any interested stakeholders to join in.

BaltMet Promo project shall apply financing from the Baltic Sea Region Programme (INTERREG IVB) with the emphasis of BSR identity building and branding as one of the key focus areas.
