Tourist Boards Joins the BDF Branding Initiative

24 May 2007
An exclusive meeting on tourism cooperation on 23 May was organised jointly by VisitDenmark and Baltic Development Forum. The initial idea behind the meeting was to encourage the heads of national tourist boards to discuss and commit to future cooperation starting with the cruise industry. The meeting brought very positive and concrete results.

More Cooperation is Needed

Representatives from five different national tourist boards (Denmark, Sweden, Latvia, Germany and Finland) were ready to sign the Letter of Intent, which was sent out to all tourist boards in the Baltic Sea Region in March 2007. The intention of the letter was to promote tourism cooperation in the Cruise sector and to get support from the headquaters of the national tourist boards for joint marketing & PR activities on markets such as the U.K and the U.S. The letter was received with enthusiasm and was signed by all representatives present at the meeting. Letter of Intent for Tourism Cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region

It was not only agreed that more cooperation is needed in the cruise industry on various markets, but it was also clearly expressed that further areas of cooperation should be sought.
The areas of branding, food around the Baltic Sea Region and the development of joint tourism activities were suggested and discussed.

A more detailed summary of the meeting follows shortly.
