EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region

14 February 2008
When presenting this year’s foreign policy declaration of the Swedish Government, Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt emphasized the importance that the European Union agrees on a strategy for the Baltic Sea Region in 2009.

Central parts of the strategy should be to strengthen the potential for economic growth and competitiveness, the capacity to fight organised crime and to tackle the environmental problems of the Baltic Sea itself. The strategy was discussed by FM Bildt and President Barroso at a dinner later the same evening. Baltic Development Forum looks forward to a continued engagement in this work.
