New Interreg Programme Taking Shape

10 May 2007
The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, on behalf of eleven participating countries around the Baltic Sea, the Investitionsbank Schleswig-Holstein as Joint Managing Authority arranged the Baltic Sea Region Programme 2007-2013 Conference in Hamburg on 10-11 May 2007.

450 participants from 21 nations representing ministries, municipalities, cities, regions, counties and Baltic organisations took part in the conference, which offered practical information about the future Interreg Programme, its priorities and new project ideas.

Baltic Development Forum, having been engaged throughout the development phase of the new Interreg Programme, presented key figures from its 2006 State of the Region Report, and related it to the Lisbon Strategy under the theme „Global Challenges – Regional Solutions“. As part of a larger EU strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, Baltic Development Forum remains confident that this regional approach will lead to a healthy competitive environment and higher competitiveness and success for Europe as a whole.
