On June 20th, BDF hosted a roundtable on regional cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region with Andrey Kortunov, Director General of the Russian International Affairs Council, as guest speaker. The roundtable was organized with support from the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and the Nordic Council of Ministers.
In the discussions, Andrey Kortunov emphasized that the situation between East and West could get worse before it got better. In the meantime, practical transborder cooperation on e.g. environment and energy should be maintained in order to keep the channels open. New projects could be developed to be ready whenever the political will returns.
The discussions from the roundtable will feed into BDF´s next Political State of the Region report, which will be published at the 18th Baltic Development Forum Summit in Stockholm, 8 November.
