On 8-9 August, City of Rostock and Baltic Sea Forum – together with among others the Finnish CBSS Presidency – organized a conference on maritime policy, chaired by the Lord Mayor of Rostock, Mr. Roland Methling. The maritime sector, government officials, Baltic Sea organisations etc. were represented. Among topics discussed were the challenges related to Clean Shipping, including how the maritime sector can fulfil environmental goals and new emission rules for the Baltic Sea.
As part of the conference the CBSS Expert Group for Maritime Policy had invited a selection of Baltic Sea Region organisations to a round table for a continued maritime dialogue in the Baltic Sea Region. The discussion confirmed the need of transparency and coordination among the many upcoming initiatives and events in this area, as well as the need to address the environmental challenges with cross-sectoral solutions. BDF was represented by Torben Aaberg, Head of Public Affairs.
